Baring It All

There has been a lot of talk lately regarding Mariah posing nude on the cover of Life & Style.  I personally love the cover and think she looks absolutely gorgeous.  I say put your best naked preggers foot forward! I really regret not getting maternity photos.  To all you beautiful mamas preparing to bring an arm candy into the world–take a picture!

Botanical Garden

Confession: I am no green-thumb.   My thumbs could actually be held liable for the massive graves of botany that have had died on my watch. I wouldn’t be surprised to receive a notification that my Oregon birthrights have been revoked and my tie dye shirts and birkenstocks must be returned immediately.  It’s that bad. However, there is an exception.

Meet the Orchid.

 

     The Orchid is one of my absolute favorite flowers and as luck would have it, the orchid happens to be the ONLY plant I can keep alive.  (Unless, you count my dandelion garden that is in full bloom.) In fact, I have an orchid I received 8 years ago as an apartment warming gift.  I have somehow managed to keep this forgiving flower alive.  Not only are they breathtakingly beautiful, they are low-maintenance.  Hence, the perfect flower for a busy bee and a terrible botanist.  Happy Spring.

Oh baby it’s magic

Confession:  I am absolutely obsessed with the Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean.  Before stumbling across this magical little number, I could not find ANYTHING that I could use to keep my walls clean without leaving obvious marks.  These magic erasers are seriously beyond words.  Absolute domestic bliss for this undomestic mama.

Meet the cutest addition to the Little Giraffe family.  This Luxe Leopard towel is puuurrrrrfect for wrapping up little Arm Candies! Too bad they don’t make them big enough for mom….but this should do the trick…..

Eclipse

  If the first thing that comes to mind when the word “Eclipse” comes across the screen is Edward Cullen, I can relate.  Unfortunately, this evening’s Lunar Eclipse is not featuring the Cullen crew.  Disappointing I know. 

Regardless, tonight’s Lunar Eclipse is kinda a big deal and will give all the sleep deprived moms something to do around 11:41pm PST.  I will not be waking my arm candies up to check out the eclipse, but do hope they check it out in 2094 and maybe think of their mother watching the same thing 84 years earlier.

Thanksgiving is just hours away and I find myself especially grateful this holiday season.

For each and every breath I have, I am grateful.

For each minute spent watching my children grow, laugh and love, I am grateful.

For a loving husband who would give his last breath for me and my children, I am grateful.

For all the people who choose good, I am grateful.

For the family I was born into and the family that took me in, I am grateful.

For the friends that always tell me what I need to hear, or choose to say nothing at all, I am grateful.

For each and every one of you, I am grateful.

Sweet Land of Liberty

Confession:  I have an overwhelming sense of guilt for having the Swiss flag on my blog for as long as I have today.  Even though it has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than my refusal to take part in any type of holiday festivities until after this weekend.  Moving on……..

In the State of Washington, we are constantly updated on military personnel.  Most of which, happen to be their homecomings.  This is, of course, the news I prefer.  It is absolutely one of favorite things to witness. (Ok…I can’t help it, that I also love reality television, I realize it’s a serious personality flaw). I just wish I had an alert that would notify me to grab the closest box of Kleenex when stories regarding military families appear in the news.  Unfortunately, I can no longer blame the tears on pregnancy hormones.  I have already confessed, I cry a lot.  (see here) The selflessness displayed by service men, women and their families moves me to tears on a regular basis.  Today, I am prepared for the waterworks.

In honor of the many sacrifices military families make on behalf of our country, I am featuring a few Arm Candy favorites. Happy Veteran’s Day!

It’s a Wrap

Day after day I agonize about what to wear.  My postpartum, breastfeeding body is simply not cooperating.  After much gnashing of teeth and rending of garments I pull something on and head out with my two little candies.  Upon arrival at whatever toddler class or errand stop we have on the sked, it hits me.  It matters not what I wear, as I will be wearing an arm candy!  Who cares if my sweater looks a bit full on top, the most eye-catching thing I have is my little one, snug in my amazing Pikkolo carrier, by Catbird Baby.

Baby-wearing has taken off and the possibilities are endless, way beyond the traditional Baby Bjorn and Ergo carriers.  There are Mei Tai’s, Ring Slings, the Beco and the Action Baby Carrier, just to name a few of my favorites.  You can choose prints or solids, brights or neutrals.  For me, it is all about keeping my little one close and still having two hands to play with my toddler.  When the little one is grumpy, all I have to do is begin buckling the carrier on and she calms down knowing that soon she will be cozy and close.  One of the most difficult aspects of parenting multiple children is meeting everyone’s needs and these carriers make it just a bit easier.
